Four die, 14 injured in Okhaldhunga jeep accident

Okhaldhunga: At least four persons died on the spot and 14 others were injured when a jeep carrying devotees met with an accident in Okhaldhunga in eastern Nepal on Monday morning.

A jeep, Province-3 01022 Cha 9694, carrying passengers heading to offer worship at Champadevi Kakani Temple and attend Ekadashi fair met with an accident at Sikaridanda in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-9.

According to District Police Chief Govinda Raj Kafle, those deceased are Mithumaya Magar, 35, of Siddicharan Municipality-10, Betini Rupse, Tulasa Magar, 17, of the same place and Khagendra Magar. Identification of one deceased is yet to be ascertained.

The jeep carrying 18 passengers had fallen off around 600 meters from the road, police said.

Those critically injured were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment, shared Sunkoshi-9 Ward Chair Jhanak Kumar Karki. Police and locals had rescued those injured in the road mishap.

Other injured are being treated in Okhaldhunga community hospital.
