Kathmandu: Hindu devotees are observing Bala Chaturdashi, one of the famous Hindu festivals, across the country on Friday. The holy seeds are sown at Kailash, Gaurighat, Aryaghat, and Guheswori of Pashupati area, Panchase, Galeshwor and Lord Shiva’s shrines across the countries on Mangsir Krishna Chaturdashi as per the lunar calendar.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust said that devotees from different parts of the country have arrived in Pashupatinath Temple from Thursday morning. The trust said that tents and other provisions have been ensured targeting the devotees in view of the dipping temperature while a large number of security personnel have been deployed.

Families of the deceased sow the Satbeej (different hundred seeds) and light lights praying for eternal peace to the deceased on the day of Bala Chaturdashi festival.

As per the Hindu mythology, one’s ancestors will have a place in heaven if such seeds are sown in the shrines related to Lord Shiva and at Pashupati area in the name of the deceased, and family happiness is ensured,” said former chairman of the Calendar Determination Committee Prof Ram Chandra Gautam.
