TU’s journalism students provide financial assistance to senior citizens

The students, representing Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, provide a cash purse of Rs 17000 to Sahara Jeshta Nagrik Samaj, a Panauti-based daycare center for senior citizens.

Kathmandu: Students from the Master’s level of Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tribhuvan University provided financial assistance to elder citizens on Monday.

They provided a cash purse of Rs 17000 to Sahara Jeshta Nagrik Samaj, a Panauti-based daycare center for senior citizens. The amount was handed to Bharat Sharma, president of Sahara Jeshta Nagrik Samaj. 

Established in 2070BS, the center houses senior citizens over 60 years in age.

CR Bhandari, a student at CDJMC, said that the fund was collected from the remaining amount of the picnic that was hosted by students of CDJMC on December 18. “We thought that the remaining amount be spent for a good cause,” he said.
