Kathmandu: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged adherence to the health protocols against Covid-19 in organizing examinations.

In view of people’s health risks, the government, schools and universities and all concerned authorities should follow health safety measures and adopt alternative methods to examinations, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the NHRC’s spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel.

The Commission has also drawn attention to an incident wherein a student was injured and 11 others were taken under police control in a protest launched in Kathmandu by students from Kantipur International College at Buddhanagar demanding that examinations of LLB fourth year be organized digitally. An NHRC team has inspected the incident.

During the inspection, the protesting students were learnt of cautioning against risks of students’ lives by organizing examinations without following the health protocols amidst a fast-increasing infection rate.

They demanded examinations be organized online or the adoption of an alternative method. In this regard, the NHRC has received an application, according to the statement.
