Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases cross 88,000-mark with 12,008 new cases reported in the last 24 hours; recovery rate drops to 89 percent

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday said it recorded a total of 12,008 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 88,000-mark. Nepal currently has 88,934 active cases.

A total of 9,432 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 2,576 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method.

A total of 25,909 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 18,103 samples were tested through the PCR method while 7,806 samples were through the antigen method.

This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 927,880 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 117,754 through antigen tests.

Likewise, altogether 3,040 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 89.2 percent.

According to the Ministry, eight people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,667.
