Wild elephant tramples man to death in eastern Nepal

Jhapa: An elderly man was killed in an attack by a tusker at Mechinagar Municipality-13 in Jhapa district on Monday.

The elephant that strayed into the settlement from a nearby forest attacked local Khamba Singh Karki, 75, while he was chasing it away.

Injured Karki died at Birta City Hospital in Birtamode, said police. The incident took place at 3 am.

A local resident, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, 63, was also killed when a wild elephant attacked him five days ago.
