Kathmandu: Aakangchha Pathak, an 18-year-old Nepali who currently resides in Texas, US, walked the ramp at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), on Friday, becoming the first 18-year old Asian to grace the show.

NYFW is a bi-annual event of runway shows and presentations that highlights designers’ collections for the next fashion season.

This year’s show featured 32 models, selected out of 1000 models from around the world. Pathak is the only Asian to walk the NYFW this year and the youngest overall.

“It was my dream to walk the New York Fashion Week,” said Pathak. “I feel very happy and proud to represent my country in such a big event.”

The week-long fashion show that began on Friday will end on Wednesday.

Pathak has also participated in TGIF Nepal Fashion Week. She has also modeled for Kasa on Mount Everest, the highest altitude fashion show on Earth, and held a Guinness world record thus.
