Nepali Congress calls parliamentary party to discuss impeachment motion against CJ

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of its parliamentary party after filing a motion of impeachment against the Chief Justice.

Lawmaker Bhimsen Das Pradhan told RSS that he had received a notice for the parliamentary party meeting to be held at Lhotse Hall of the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor at 9 am on Tuesday. The agenda of the meeting has not been spelled out in the notification.

Pradhan said that the meeting may have been convened to discuss the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice and the MCC grant assistance.

On Sunday morning, 98 lawmakers from the three major parties in the ruling coalition, led by Nepali Congress, filed an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.

The next parliament meeting has been called for February 18.
