Kathmandu: Protests have been staged outside Nepal’s Parliament building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Friday against the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.

Students wings of CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) have staged the protest. Police in large numbers have been deployed in the area.

Nepal’s ruling alliance is divided over parliamentary endorsement of the US assistance meant for the construction of transmission lines and road upgradation. The tabling of the MCC Compact has been delayed as top leaders in the alliance are still at odds.
