Finance Ministry approves Rs 14.45 billion for local polls

Kathmandu: The government has approved Rs 14.45 billion for the local-level elections scheduled for May.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Finance Dhundi Prasad Sitaula said the Ministry approved Rs 8.11 billion for the Election Commission, Rs 6.29 billion for the Home Ministry and Rs 50 million for the National Investigation Department.

The Election Commission had estimated local-level elections to cost Rs 16 billion.

The local-level elections have been slated in a single phase for May 13.
