UAE hammers Nepal by 99 runs in World Cup League 2

Kathmandu: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) thrashed Nepal by 99 runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Dubai on Monday.

Chasing 203 runs target set by the host, Nepal managed to get only 103 runs on the board losing all wickets in 35.1 overs as a poor batting performance by batsmen continued.

Gyanendra Malla top-scored for Nepal at 30 runs off 60 balls. Sompal Kami and Aarif Sheikh contributed equal 15 runs.

Junaid Siddique of the UAE took four wickets as Ahmed Raza and Kashif Daud grabbed two wickets each for the team.

Earlier, the UAE set 203 runs target against Nepal losing nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Rohan Mustafa top-scored for the UAE at 60 runs off 73 balls smashing two fours and one six. Muhammad Waseem contributed 33 runs.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC grabbed three and two wickets respectively.

Nepal won the toss and elected to field first in the match played at Dubai Sports City in Dubai.
