Seven die in road accidents

Kathmandu: At least seven people died and several were injured in road accidents across the country on Thursday and Friday, Nepal police said.

According to police, a gas bullet truck, with a registration number, Pradesh 3-001 Ka 0551, hit a motorcycle, Ba 64 Pa 6380, at Kathmandu Metropolis-27, leaving bike rider Gulam Mohammad, 64, seriously injured. Mohammad, a resident of Kathmandu-27, died in the course of treatment at Bir Hospital, police said, adding the truck driver is in custody for further investigation into the case.

Likewise, in Parsa district, two motorcycles collided at Pokhariya Municipality-4, leaving two dead and three injured. According to police, two bikes with registration numbers, Na 3 Pa 1026, and Pradesh 2-03-004 Pa 7476, respectively, collided. Both the riders died on the spot, while the injured pillion riders were sent to Narayani Hospital for further treatment.

Similarly, in Saptari district, a truck with registration number, Na 7 Kha 2658, hit a Bolero Jeep, Pradesh 2-01-001 Cha 0334, at Khadak Municipality-5, leaving one dead and five injured. According to police, Shivaraj Yadav, who was injured in the incident, died in the course of treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar. Five persons injured in the accident were sent to Universal Hospital in Kalyanpur. The truck driver is taken to custody for further investigation into the case, said police.

In another road accident, one person died at Biratnagar Metropolitan-14 in Morang district. Pusparaj Deuja, 42, died in the course of treatment at Koshi Hospital on Friday. He was hit by a vehicle, which fled the site. Police are searching the vehicle, it said. 

According to police,  a van with registration number, Lu 1 Cha 6798, lost its control and met with an accident at Siddharthanagar Municipality-9 in Rupandehi district on Thursday afternoon. Driver Ram Satya Bhuj, 45, a resident of Om Satya Rural Municipality-2, died in Medical college Bhairahawa during the treatment. 

Likewise, a bus with registration number, Lu 1 kha 7021, hit Saroj Pun, 8 at Naubihani Municipality-4 in Pyuthan district on Friday morning. According to police, Pun, a resident of Naubihani Rural Municipality-4, died in the course of treatment at the District Hospital in Bijuwa. The bus driver is taken into custody for further investigation into the case.
