Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Election Commission not to enforce a provision that bars contractors from contesting in the upcoming local polls.

The apex court issued an interim order to allow contractors to file candidacy at local levels other than they are involved.

The commission in the local election directives had barred contractors to contest local-level elections slated for May 13.

A single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi issued the order.
