EC categorizes over 50 percent of voting centers in Madhes province as most sensitive

Janakpur: The Election Commission has categorized more than 50 percent of voting centers in Madhes Province as the most sensitive centers.

The Election Commission has kept 1,063 voting centers of the Madhes Province on the most sensitive list after reviewing the security challenges as eight districts of the Province share border with India.

According to Deputy Inspector General of Police of Madhes Province Police Office, Janakpurdham, Umesh Ranjitkar, the security arrangement has been made at these voting centers, which have been kept in the most sensitive list.

The local level poll is slated for May 13.

The EC has categorized the voting centers across the country in three categories–most sensitive, sensitive, and normal–as per the recommendation of the District-based security committee.

Similarly, 828 voting centers in the Province have been categorized as sensitive and 212 as normal. 

In the meantime, 136 licensed weapons were handed over to the local administration in the Province as per the notice issued by the District Administration Office for the upcoming local-level elections.

The District Administration Office of the eight districts of the Province had issued the notice to hand over the licensed weapon within April 13. RSS
