Kathmandu: In a bid to manage increasing air traffic at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to operate domestic flights 18 hours a day.

Required preparation to operate domestic flights up to 18 hours per day at seven airports in the Terai region from Wednesday has been made, shared CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari.

The CAAN has decided to operate airports in Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi from 6 am till midnight.

This would help relieve existing traffic in Kathmandu airport and also provide relief to the pandemic-battered tourism sector, he shared.
