Death toll in Syangja jeep accident hits 14, all deceased identified

Kathmandu: The death toll in the Syangja jeep accident reached 14 on Friday afternoon after a passenger undergoing treatment succumbed to injuries.

The mishap happened when a jeep carrying voters veered off the road and fell 500 meters down after the driver lost control of the steering at Waling-14. The jeep, Ga 2 Chha 3026, was heading to Tiwari Pasal from Waling-14 when it met with the accident this morning, police said.

The deceased are identified as Maya Pun, 63, Pravin Kunwar, 9, Kuldeep Kunwar, 50, Dem Kumari Kunwar, 50, Harikala Kunwar, 86, Tekkala Kunwar, 50, Jamuna Kunwar, 25, and Bhimkala Kunwar, 70 of Waling-14.

Likewise, Muwa Kumari Kunwar, 70, Pot Kumari Kunwar, 43, Januka Kunwar, 43, Gyan Dali Kunwar, 42, Mina Kunwar, 50, and Phuldevi Kunwar, 50, were killed the accident, police said.

As many as 13 people have been injured in a jeep accident and are undergoing treatment at Gandaki Medical College, Pokhara. All the injured are in critical condition, police said.

Among the injured are Bel Maya Kunwar, Bhull Bahadur Kunwar, Gaumati Thapa, Gyan Maya Kunwar, Saraswati Kunwar, Kabita Kunwar, Anish Kunwar, Kushal Kunwar, Jamakali Kunwar, Kaushal Kunwar, Sita Kunwar and Netra Bahadur Kunwar.
