UML registers victory in Ghorahi sub-metropolis

Kathmandu: CPN-UML has registered its win for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor of Ghorahi sub-metropolis in Dang district.

UML mayoral candidate Narulal Chaudhary secured 31,728 to secure his victory while his close contender Hemraj Sharma of CPN (Maoist Centre) got 26,328 votes, informed Chief Returning Officer Ritendra Thapa.

Chaudhary was elected to the mayoral post in an earlier local election as well.

UML’s candidate Huma DC emerged the winner of the post of deputy mayor with 30,403 votes. Her close contender Bhupa Bahadur Dangi of Nepali Congress (NC) received 30,354 votes.

UML has won wards 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,11,12,14 and 18 whereas NC registered victory in wards 10,13,15,16 and 19. CPN (Maoist Center) has won ward 9.

Total voters’ turnout in Ghorahi was 67.76 percent.
