Renu Dahal elected Bharatpur Mayor for second term

Chitwan: Renu Dahal has been elected the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Dahal, a common candidate of the ruling alliance, was elected the mayor for the second term, defeating her closest opponent, Bijay Subedi of CPN-UML, by a margin of 12,499 votes. 

According to the Election Commission, Dahal got 52,030 votes, while Subedi garnered 39,581 votes.

Dahal, daughter of CPN (Maoist Center) chair ‘Prachanda’, has garnered 8,903 more votes during this election as compared to the previous local elections.

In the previous election, Dahal had received 43,127 votes, while Devi Gyawali of the CPN-UML got 42,924 votes.
