Kathmandu: A Nepali man has been viciously attacked, robbed, and left unconscious while grabbing food after work in California, the USA.

Sagar Tamang, 25, said he was struck from behind while collecting a hot dog from a street vendor in front of the Fox Theater at around 11 pm on Saturday.

Tamang was knocked unconscious after receiving a strike to the back of his head. He was brought to Highland Hospital’s Emergency Department and treated for level one trauma, Yahoo News reported.

The incident left the 25-year-old with a bruised and swollen face the next day. Tamang claims he was abandoned in an alley with the majority of his stuff missing, including his phone, wallet, boots, jeans, and coat.

“I need to be outspoken about what happened to me so that younger people or members of the Nepali community can speak up afterwards,” Tamang added.

For the next month, Tamang will be unable to work as a rideshare driver. Tamang’s girlfriend, Bimala Thapa, has set up a GoFundMe page to help him pay his medical fees. The fundraiser has received nearly $13,000 in donations so far, with a goal of $30,000.
