Kathmandu: A suspected case of monkeypox has been detected in Nepal.

A 26-year-old man who arrived from Dubai has been admitted to the Teku Hospital after he was suspected to be infected during a health screening at the Tribhuvan International Airport health desk.

A total of 1,600 cases have been so far confirmed in over 39 countries. Amid the rise in cases of monkeypox World Health Organization (WHO) has decided to convene the Emergency Committee to assess whether the global outbreak represents a “public health emergency of international concern”.
