Kathmandu: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand on Thursday said Nepal has not decided to join the US State Partnership Program (SPP) so far.

Responding to queries raised by lawmakers regarding budget allocation for the Ministry for Defence and the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Minister Khand said that the government has not thought of joining SPP. Minister Khand was speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

“Neither has the government decided to join SPP so far nor it is mulling to join the military alliance,” said Minister Khand. “Nepal will not allow using its land against friendly countries.”

He added that Nepal was committed to a non-aligned foreign policy.
