Swollen Ratuwa River displaces 13 households in Jhapa

Jhapa: As many as 13 families were displaced and 25 households inundated when a flood-fed Ratuwa river in Jhapa eroded human settlement.

Spokesperson at District Police Office, Jhapa, SP Basanta Pathak shared that the flood-triggered erosion nearby human settlement at Damak municipality-7 caused the displacement of households.

Among the displaced families are of Khadga Limbu, Rajesh Kisku, Bishnu Limbu, Manoj Maskey, Subash Limbu, Bharati Tamang, Ramkumari Lawati, Lakpa Sherpa, Goma Tamang, Dik Bahadur Gurung, Suryaman Acharya, Deepak Gurung and Bimal Kisku.

As informed, Nepal Police and locals had teamed up to rescue the families. The erosion caused damage to their houses.

Likewise, flood occurred in the same river had sneaked into the human settlement at Gauradaha municipality-6, Tanguwa settlement this morning.

The flood had waterlogged 25 households of the settlement, police said. —
