Ruling coalition directs govt to cut taxes on petroleum products

The government has been levying hefty taxes on petroleum products. It is said the price of petrol and diesel will come down by Rs 25-30 per liter once the decision is implemented.

Kathmandu: The ruling coalition on Saturday morning directed the government to lower taxes imposed on petroleum products.

A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling alliance held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar decided to direct the government to tame the inflation and to provide relief to the people struggling with rising prices, said Ramesh Malla, Personal Secretary to CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Malla said that the government will slash taxes on petroleum products effective from Saturday. It is said the price of petrol and diesel will come down by Rs 25-30 per liter once the decision is enforced.
