CIAA files graft case against nine including former Deputy Mayor of Biratnagar

Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed a graft case against nine persons including former Deputy Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolis Indira Karki.

The anti-graft body filed the case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against Karki, then Chief Administrative Officer Ekdev Adhikari, engineers Gopal Pokharel and Pushpak Pradhan, sub-engineer Mohammad Iftekhar Alam, Chairman of the Park Construction Consumer Committee Baldev Sahu Sudi, Secretary Dinanath Acharya, and Treasurer Kalpana Ghimire and then Ward Chairman of Biratnagar-15 Aslam Alam.

They have been charged with corruption in the construction of a park near Rani Health Post in Ward-15 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Morang by paying an amount to contractors than the actual works done. The CIAA has accused them of embezzling Rs 1.05 million.
