Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Saturday held a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi.
The leaders discussed further strengthening Nepal-India relations and economic cooperation between the countries.
“A productive discussion on strengthening our neighborly relationship with a focus on economic cooperation,” Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said in a tweet.
Prachanda left for a three-day visit to India on Friday at the invitation of the President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jagat Prakash Nadda.
During his stay in India, Prachanda is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and BJP President J. P. Nadda.
The visit comes following a Nepal visit by the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign Department Chief. Prachanda, however, said his visit to India has no connection with the visit by the Chinese leader.
