Rain to bring respite from scorching heat from Tuesday

The monsoon trough is likely to move back towards Nepal from Tuesday with the possibility of rainfall, giving some respite from the heat.

Kathmandu: The weather is partly to generally cloudy throughout the country on Monday. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to take place at some places in the hilly region of the country and at one or two places in the rest of the country, Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

According to the Division’s analysis, presently axis of the monsoon trough is located south of the normal position. The country is witnessing a rise in temperature for the past few days. It said the shifting of the monsoon trough towards the south from the normal position caused a monsoon break, leading to the temperature rise. Meteorologist Hira Bhattarai said this year more heat is felt in hilly regions including in the Kathmandu Valley than in previous years.

As Bhattarai said, the monsoon trough is likely to move back towards Nepal from Tuesday with the possibility of rainfall, giving some respite from the heat.
