33 passengers injured as bus catches fire after accident

Kathmandu: A total of 33 passengers were hurt when a bus caught fire at Daunne, Nawalparasi Bardaghat Susta East along the East-West Highway on Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 5: 30 am near the Bishwokarma Temple located along the Narayanghat-Butwal road section at Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 after the bus met with an accident.

The bus, Na 5 Kha 5100, heading to east from west veered off and rammed on the hillside, Superintendent of Police Prajjwal Maharjan said. The bus caught blaze upon hitting the hillside.

Maharjan said that among the injured passengers six are in serious condition. Eight of the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the Purano Medical College in Bharatpur while the rest are under medical care at Madhyabindu District Hospital, Danda.
