Covid-19 Nepal: Active cases cross 5,000-mark with new 814 cases reported in the last 24 hours

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday said it recorded a total of 814 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 5,000-mark. Nepal currently has 5,144 active cases.

A total of 509 people were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 305 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method.

A total of 5,415 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry said 2,762 samples were tested through the PCR method while 2,653 samples were through the antigen method.

This takes the total number of positive cases in the country to 987,736 confirmed through RT-PCR tests and another 143,201 through antigen tests.

Likewise, altogether 299 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 98.3 percent.

According to the Ministry, no new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Nepal’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 11,968 as of Tuesday afternoon.
