5.3-magnitude earthquake with epicenter in Nuwakot jolts Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake shook Kathmandu Valley and nearby districts on Saturday morning, jolting many out of their sleep.

According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the earthquake with the epicenter in Belkotgadhi in Nuwakot was recorded at 5:26 am.

Earlier on July 31, an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale was recorded with its epicenter at Martimbirta of Sakela Rural Municipality in Khotang district.
