Kathmandu: Project with the theme “Monsoon and menstrual hygiene” has been launched at a community school in Pharping, Lalitpur.
The project is initiated and coordinated by Working As Angels (WAA) in collaboration with Swarovski Foundation.
The purpose of the program is to give the students of secondary-level knowledge regarding menstruation while making them aware of menstrual hygiene and distributing menstrual pads.
A total of 72 students benefited from the program, the organization said in a press release.
In the course of the project, the students were given a questionnaire with 10 questions which were for the assessment of their knowledge on and around the topic of menstruation.
The program formally started after an ice-breaking session where students were entertained with a quick indoor activity. The presentation incorporated menstruation and menstrual cycle, menstrual hygiene, menstruation-related taboos, and then the true facts to debunk the myths. Students were taught the proper way to wear and dispose pads with a proper demonstration.
