Kathmandu: Police fired five rounds in air and some tear gas shells at Bancharedanda as locals blocked garbage trucks moving towards the landfill site.

Police say they were compelled to open fire as locals pelted stones at them. “Police will use force if locals obstruct garbage trucks moving towards the landfill site,” said Superintendent Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police.
