Kathmandu: Police on Tuesday arrested 35 cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) enforcing bandh in different parts of the country.

Of them, 19 bandh enforcers were arrested from Kathmandu, said police.

The outfit announced the Nepal Bandh, demanding that the government release their leaders and cadres from prisons and withdraw court cases  as per the agreement signed with them earlier.

In March 2021, the KP Oli led-government and the outfit signed a three-point agreement, in which the outfit  agreed to continue its functioning peacefully.

In 2019, the government banned the outfit as it was involved in explosions, murder, and extortion amount.

The Bandh, announced by the outfit, has been supported by Nepal Communist Party, Scientific Socialist Communist Party and Nepal Maoist Socialist Party. These three parties supported the Bandh, demanding the government scrap the Millenium Challenge Corporation deal signed with the United States government.

In the meantime, the outfit has torched a tipper truck in Dang. “A truck (Ra 1 Kha 1694) has been torched at Ghorahi Sub Metropolitan-3,” said Suresh Prasad Kafle, chief of Dang Police.
