Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has withdrawn its candidacy filed in Chitwan-3 for the House of Representatives elections slated for November 20.

UML Chitwan District Chairman Ram Prasad Neupane had filed his nomination from the constituency. However, on Wednesday Neupane withdrew his candidature following direction from the central leadership.

According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, the candidacy was withdrawn after the office received a formal letter signed by UML Chairman KP Sharm Oli.

UML will now support Dinesh Koirala, a rebel candidate from the Nepali Congress. Koirala had filed his nomination as an independent candidate after the ruling alliance decided to allocate the seat to CPN (Maoist Center). CPN (Maoist Center)’s Dr Bhojraj Adhikari is in the election fray from the constituency.
