Kathmandu: Police on Monday rearrested standup comedian Apoorwa Kshitiz Singh on the charge of making derogatory remarks about the Newari culture and people in his comedy performance.

Singh, who was arrested earlier on August 28, was freed on September 8 after he was infected with Covid-19.

According to police, Singh has been arrested again as police have to complete the investigation into the charges against him. “As tomorrow [Tuesday] is a public holiday, police will present him before the court on Wednesday,” said Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Police.
