Court remands Sandeep Lamichhane in custody for two days

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Sandeep Lamichhane, a former captain of Nepali National Cricket Team, to custody for two days as the police is yet to complete investigation into the rape charges against the suspended national cricketer.

The Gaushala Metropolitan Police Range presented Lamichhane before the Court on Sunday. 

The former captain of Nepali National Cricket Team is accused of raping a 17-year-old multiple times in a hotel in Kathmandu on August 21, a day before Nepali team flew to Kenya for T20Is and ODI series. The victim had filed a case against Lamichhane on September 6.

According to police, the report will be submitted to the District Government Attorney Office after the investigation is completed.

Lamichhane, who was in a Caribbean nation to play the Caribbean Premier League, came to Nepal a month after the case was filed against him. He was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on October 6.
