Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called for a meeting of the ruling parties to discuss the expansion of the cabinet.

According to Dahal’s secretariat, the meeting will take place at 3pm. Dahal was appointed Prime Minister on December 25th, but the ruling parties have yet to form the cabinet fully.

On Tuesday, in a rare political twist, Dahal, also known as “Prachanda,” won a vote of confidence from nearly all lawmakers in Nepal’s lower house. With support from nearly all political parties represented in the House of Representatives, he will lead an opposition-less government, a rare occurrence in Nepal’s parliamentary history.

Dahal had already secured enough votes to win the vote of confidence, receiving support from 169 members of parliament when he presented his claim for the position.

He ultimately secured 268 votes from the 275-member lower House of Nepal’s federal parliament on Tuesday.
