Kathmandu: The Patan High Court on Thursday has ordered the release of Sandeep Lamichhane, former captain of the Nepali Cricket team, from jail on bail.

Responding to a review petition filed by Lamichhane, a joint bench of judges Dhruva Raj Nanda and Ramesh Dahal ordered Lamichhane’s release on a bail bond of Rs 2 million with conditions.

The Kathmandu District Court on November 4 ordered to send Lamichhane to the Sundhara-based central jail after a detention hearing. Then, Lamichhane moved to the high court challenging the order.

On September 6, a minor filed a case against Lamichhane at the Gaushala Metropolitan Police Circle.

Despite releasing Lamichhane, the court has restricted him from going abroad until the final verdict.
