Kathmandu: Suspended cricketer Sandeep Lamicchane on Friday has been released from the Sundhara-based Central Jail following the order of the Special Court to release him on bail.

Lamichhane, former captain of Nepali National Cricket team, is accused of raping a minor.

On Thursday, responding to a review petition filed by Lamichhane, a joint bench of judges Dhruva Raj Nanda and Ramesh Dahal ordered Lamichhane’s release on a bail bond of Rs 2 million.

However, the court has put forth some conditions.

The Kathmandu District Court on November 4 decided to send Lamichhane to judicial custody until the final verdict.

On September 6, a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint against Lamichhane, accusing him of raping her.
