Rastriya Swatantra Party finalizes names for ministerial positions

As per the agreement, the largest party in the coalition, the UML, will have a total of eight ministers and two ministers of state.

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has chosen its three lawmakers for Cabinet appointments. 

RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has decided to appoint Shishir Khanal as the Minister of Education, Dol Prasad Aryal as the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, and Toshima Karki as the State Minister of Health.

With this, the RSP, which holds 20 seats in parliament, has got one Deputy Prime Minister position , three ministers position, and one State Minister position.

Rabi Lamichhane, the chair of the party, holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. 

Khanal was elected directly in Kathmandu-6, Aryal through proportional representation, and Karki secured her seat in the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-3. 

The ruling coalition’s top leaders agreed on ministerial allocations late Monday night, a month after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal took office. 

As per the agreement, the largest party in the coalition, the UML, will have a total of eight ministers and two ministers of state. 

The CPN (Maoist Centre), which leads the government, will have five ministries, including the prime minister. 

The Rastriya Swatantra Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party will each have three ministries and one deputy prime minister.
