Kathmandu: House Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire took an oath of office and secrecy on Friday.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, amid a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, administered the oath of office to the newly-appointed House Speaker.
Ghimire, a standing committee member and party incharge of Province 1, was appointed the House Speaker through a majority.
In the election to the post, Ghimire got 167 votes, while a total of 100 lawmakers voted against the proposal. Likewise, one lawmaker abstained.
In the November elections, Ghimire won from Jhapa-2.
