Police arrest Nagarik Unmukti Party’s lawmaker Arun Kumar Chaudhary

Arun Kumar Chaudhary is a fugitive who has yet to serve a six-month jail sentence ordered by the Kailali District Court.

Kathmandu: Police have arrested Arun Kumar Chaudhary, an elected lawmaker from Kailali-2 constituency. A team of police arrested Chaudhary from Kohalpur in Banke district. 

“We [police] are taking the arrested lawmaker before the Kailali District Court,” said DIG Posh Raj Pokharel, spokesperson for Nepal Police. 

A leader of Nagarik Unmukti Party, Arun Kumar Chaudhary is a fugitive who has yet to serve a six-month jail sentence ordered by the Kailali District Court. The Court some 13 years ago convicted Chaudhary of setting a tractor on fire.

On April 13, 2013, the Kailali District Court sentenced three people, Parshuram Chaudhary and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary, including MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary, to six months in prison. It had also decided that the
