Kathmandu: The Ratriya Swatantra Party on Sunday has decided to call back its ministers from the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led cabinet.

The move comes after Prime Minister Dahal refused to give the portfolio of the Home Minister to the Party. The party holds a strength of 19 seats in the House of Representatives–the lower house of the parliament.

Though the party had good rapport with the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the initial days of government formation, the relationship had deteriorated of late.

RSP was expected to quit the government on Friday after the Prime Minister refused to  allocate the portfolio of the Home Ministry.

On 27 January, Nepal’s Supreme Court had concluded that Rabi Lamichhane was not eligible to remain the member of parliament, compelling him to resign from his position of Home Minister. He had tendered his resignation on the same day to the Prime Minister Dahal.

Following the court order, he required his citizenship from the Kathmandu Administration Office on 29 January. He, according to aide of the Prime Minister, was lobbying for the same portfolio in the cabinet.
