Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Wednesday in a bid to build a consensus between the two for the presidential election scheduled for March 9.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar. Political meetings have intensified with the date for nomination of candidacy for the Presidential election drawing closer. The CPN (Maoist Centre) is insisting on national consensus on the President while CPN-UML has been insisting that the presidential portfolio should be ensured to UML as per the power sharing deal between UML and Maoist Center.

Of late, Maoist Center and Maoist Center appear to have differences over who should be elected the next head of state. The nomination for the Presidential election is taking place on February 25.
