Biratnagar: The assembly meeting of Province 1 on Wednesday endorsed the proposal to name the province Koshi by a two-thirds majority.
The proposal of CPN-UML lawmaker Ram Bahadur Rana Magar to name the province Koshi was supported by the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center).
In a voting, 82 lawmakers voted in favor of naming the province Koshi, while four lawmakers voted against it. Likewise, six lawmakers abstained.
