Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is preparing to take a vote of confidence on April 19, according to his chief political advisor, Haribol Gajurel. “If not on April 19, the vote will take place on April 20,” he said.

Dahal became Prime Minister on December 25 and passed a floor test on January 10. However, after the CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (UML) coalition broke up before the Presidential election, the CPN (UML) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party withdrew their support for the government.

As per the constitutional provision, the Prime Minister has to retake the floor test if any party that previously supported the government withdraws its backing.
