Youths chanting slogans against Prime Minister Dahal sent to jail

Kathmandu: Three youths who chanted slogans against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda have been sent to jail as they refused to pay the bail amount.

The Kathmandu District Administration on Sunday ordered the release of three youths on bail amount of Rs 5000. As they refused to pay the bail amount, the arrested youths have been sent to jail, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police Niranjan Dutta Bhatta.

Last week, Uddhav Basnet, 23, of Solukhumbu , Som Sharma, 30, of Baglung, and Biplav Khadka, 18, of Bajhang, chanted slogans against Prime Minister Dahal during a program in Baneshwor. Police arrested them on the charge of indecent behavior.

The youths chanted slogans condemning exorbitant interest rates and demanding waiver of bank interest. The police had covered the mouths of the protesters while they chanted slogans against the Prime Minister.
