Kathmandu: Kushal Malla hit an impressive century as Nepal secure a victory against Oman in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. This win marks Nepal’s second consecutive victory in the tournament.

In the match played on Friday, Oman won the toss and chose to field first. Nepal struggled in the beginning as they lost both openers without scoring any runs. Then, Bhim Sharki and Captain Rohit Poudel played sensibly to lay the groundwork for Kushal Malla. Malla then took charge and smashed the Omani bowlers all over the ground, hitting nine fours and ten sixes in his knock of 108 runs from just 64 balls. His innings helped Nepal set a target of 310 runs, their highest ODI score to date.

Oman’s innings got off to a decent start, but they lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 226 runs in 46.3 overs. Mohammad Nadeem top-scored for Oman with 65 runs from 84 balls. Nepal’s Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets each, while Dipendra Singh Airee chipped in with two wickets.

Lamichhane made history in the match by becoming the fastest player to take 100 ODI wickets. He achieved this milestone in just 42 ODIs, beating the previous record held by Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, who took 100 wickets in 44 ODIs.

Nepal will play its third game against Saudi Arabia on Monday.
