Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane won the by-election from Chitwan-2, with a huge margin of votes, yet again on Tuesday. Lamichane secured 54,176 votes while his rival Jitnarayan Shrestha of Nepali Congress got 11,214 votes, with Ram Prasad Neupane following with 10,936 votes.

Lamichhane got around 5000 more votes this time from his constituency than in November 2022.  He had secured 49300 votes back then.

Lamichhane contested by-election after the Supreme Court declared his post of member of House of Representatives invalid over citizenship.

Contrary to the speculations of the parties in the ruling alliance and opposition CPN-UML, who claimed that their candidates would win,  Lamichhane secured far more votes this time than thought by many.

This is his second victory from Chitwan-2.
