Kathmandu: Amresh Kumar Singh, an independent lawmaker, who went seminaked in the House meeting on Sunday said he had to take such a step after the speaker denied him time to speak against corruption.

Talking to Nepal Live, a sister publication of Nepal Live Today, Singh said that he was not allowed to speak against the fake Bhutanese refugee scam defrauding almost 800 Nepalis giving them false hopes of sending them to the United States of America as refugees.

“In many countries, lawmakers go semi-naked to protest after being denied time to speak. I have followed that. I am a representative of the people. I have to speak on behalf of them,” he said. “I was denied time to speak against rampant corruption in Nepal.”
