Kathmandu: An adolescent girl was raped by a bus driver while traveling from Ramechhap to Banepa, according to police.
The incident occurred on May 18, 2023, when the victim, who was on the way to meet her father residing in a rented room in Banepa. She became a victim of manipulation and sexual assault at the hands of the bus driver, according to police.
As the daughter did not reach home, the father filed a missing complaint with the police. The police then initiated a search operation.
On May 19, police located the victim in Koteshwor. During the course of the investigation, she shared the horrifying details of rape she endured during the journey. The perpetrator, identified as Kumar Kasai, a 30-year-old bus driver, has already been arrested by police.
According to police, the girl had to go to Banepa, instead the driver deceived the victim by offering to drop her off at Koteshwor, Jadibuti to facilitate her taxi commute as it was already late. Then, Kasai raped her in a guest house in the Koteshwor area.
The driver had manipulated her into remaining on the bus for two hours, claiming it was unsafe for her to leave at that hour. He then took her to a hotel, where he raped her, according to the police investigation.
The incident happened in a guest house named Bihani, situated in Koteshwor, according to police.
The police have already filed a case against the bus driver.
